SNOWBOARDING DOG ADVENTURE

SNOWBOARDING DOG ADVENTURE

A joyfully absurd mural of a dog shredding down a mountain on a snowboard, with eagles soaring overhead and Colorado peaks rolling into the distance. The piece refuses to take itself seriously, combining two of Colorado's favorite things — dogs and snowboarding — into pure visual happiness.

Artist's Note

Not every mural needs to be profound. Sometimes art should just make people laugh and feel good. A dog on a snowboard is ridiculous and wonderful, and if it makes someone smile during their commute, it's done its job.

— Rachel Dinda

Inspiration

Colorado is a place where dogs go everywhere — hiking trails, breweries, patios, ski lodges. Putting one on a snowboard felt less like a stretch and more like an inevitability. The eagles were a Colorado bonus.

The Process

The whimsical concept required a careful balance — too cartoony and it loses visual impact, too realistic and the humor doesn't land. I found a sweet spot where the dog's expression is genuinely joyful and the snowboarding pose is anatomically plausible for a dog. The mountain backdrop is painted more realistically to ground the absurdity in a recognizable Colorado landscape.

Community Impact

This is easily my most photographed piece. Dog owners love it, snowboarders love it, and everyone else just finds it funny. It's been shared countless times on social media with every possible dog and snowboarding pun attached.
