GREETINGS FROM CRIPPLE CREEK
A vintage postcard-style mural in downtown Cripple Creek celebrating the historic mining town against its dramatic mountain backdrop. Bold retro typography spells out the greeting while pine-framed mountain scenery captures the town's rugged beauty and frontier heritage.

Artist's Note
“Cripple Creek has this incredible energy — a mining town that refuses to be forgotten. The postcard format felt perfect because it's both nostalgic and inviting, like the town itself is waving you in from the highway.”
— Rachel Dinda
Inspiration
1950s roadside postcard art inspired the typography and composition. Those old postcards had a way of making every small town look like the most exciting place on earth, and Cripple Creek genuinely deserves that treatment.
The Process
The typography was the backbone of this piece and required precise layout work before any color went on. I hand-lettered the text at full scale, then built the mountain landscape behind it. The vintage color palette — slightly desaturated, sun-faded tones — was achieved by mixing muted versions of each hue rather than just adding white.
Community Impact
Tourism photos from Cripple Creek now almost always include the mural. The town has embraced it as an unofficial welcome sign, and local businesses report increased foot traffic on the block.
