PSYCHEDELIC SUMMER

A kaleidoscopic portrait of a woman with flowing psychedelic hair, swirling octopus tentacles, and retro sunglasses, drenched in the saturated colors of an endless summer. The piece channels 1960s psychedelic art through a contemporary street art lens, radiating freedom and creative rebellion.

Artist's Note

Summer is a state of mind — it's permission to be loud, colorful, and unapologetically yourself. This portrait captures that feeling. The octopus tentacles weaving through her hair represent the way summer memories wrap around everything else in your life.

Inspiration

The psychedelic art movement of the '60s and '70s, filtered through modern street art sensibilities. Those artists weren't just making pretty pictures — they were visualizing expanded consciousness. I wanted to tap into that same fearless creativity.

The Process

The psychedelic effect required careful color theory — every adjacent hue was chosen for maximum vibrancy without creating muddy transitions. I worked from the face outward, letting the hair and tentacles flow organically across the wall. The retro sunglasses were the last element, anchoring the piece in a specific attitude.

Community Impact

This piece gets photographed constantly in summer months. It's become a seasonal social media staple, with people sharing it as a visual announcement that warm weather is here.
