DREAMWALKER AND HIS DOG

A striking portrait at Brooklyn's renowned Bushwick Collective featuring a young boy in cool blue tones alongside a graceful greyhound, framed by climbing roses. The piece brings quiet contemplation to one of New York's most energetic outdoor galleries, standing out through its gentleness amid the visual intensity of the surrounding work.

Artist's Note

Painting at the Bushwick Collective was a career milestone. This is one of the world's most respected street art destinations, and the caliber of work surrounding mine pushed me to create something deeply personal. The boy and dog represent an innocence I wanted to preserve amid Brooklyn's relentless energy.

Inspiration

The bond between children and animals is uncomplicated and pure. In a collective known for bold, aggressive work, I wanted to offer something tender — a quiet moment you might walk right past if you're not paying attention.

The Process

I worked in the blue-purple tonal range to unify the composition and give it a dreamlike quality. The greyhound's lean form was rendered with long, fluid brushstrokes to contrast with the tighter detail work on the boy's features. The roses were added last, climbing up from the base to soften the edges of the composition.

Community Impact

The piece gets tagged in social media posts from the Bushwick Collective regularly. Several visitors have told me it's their favorite work in the collection because it offers a moment of calm amid the visual intensity of the surrounding murals.
