TIGER STANCE
A powerful tiger in full stance dominating the Hayden High School gymnasium, surrounded by lush tropical foliage. The school's mascot is rendered with both fierce athleticism and natural grace, embodying the competitive spirit and dignity that the Hayden Tigers represent.

Artist's Note
“A school mascot mural has to do more than look cool — it has to make students feel something when they lace up. This tiger isn't just an image; it's a mindset. I wanted athletes to feel its intensity before every game and carry that energy onto the court.”
— Rachel Dinda
Inspiration
Conversations with Hayden's coaches and athletes revealed that the tiger wasn't just a mascot — it was an identity. The players talked about what it meant to be a Tiger with genuine reverence. I needed to capture that depth, not just paint a cat.
The Process
Gymnasium walls are massive and the viewing distance is long, so every detail had to be amplified. The tiger's anatomy was studied carefully — I wanted the musculature and stance to be accurate enough that a biologist would approve. The foliage creates a jungle setting that makes the gym feel like the tiger's territory.
Community Impact
The coaching staff reports a measurable difference in home game energy since the mural went up. Students have started a tradition of touching the tiger's paw before games for luck. The school has used the mural in recruitment materials for incoming students.
