BLUE BIRD DAYS
A nocturnal mural at Good Times in Westminster featuring a swallow in mid-flight among white daisies, set against a glowing orange moon. The twilight palette shifts from warm amber at the center to cool indigo at the edges, capturing that fleeting moment between day and night.

Artist's Note
“Night murals hit differently. The colors I chose for this one were designed to glow under streetlights, so the bird seems to come alive after dark. That duality — a daytime painting that transforms at night — was the whole point.”
— Rachel Dinda
Inspiration
I've always loved that liminal moment at dusk when birds make their last flights of the day. The orange moon against blue sky creates a natural complementary color harmony that I couldn't resist painting at scale.
The Process
The deep orange undercoat went down first as the foundation for the moon, then I worked outward with progressively cooler blues. The bird was painted last, in one session, to keep the brushwork energetic and fluid. The daisies were added with thick impasto to catch real light.
Community Impact
The restaurant tells me people request the patio seats near the mural. On summer evenings, the warm tones match the sunset perfectly, which wasn't planned but worked out beautifully.
