Artist's Note
“Painting along the Danube river felt surreal. The bird is my tribute to Vienna’s spirit, an a small moment in time of the city’s history that I was honored to leave behind.”

Inspiration
I've always loved that liminal moment at dusk when birds make their last flights of the day. The orange moon against blue sky creates a natural complementary color harmony that I couldn't resist painting at scale.
The Process
The deep orange undercoat went down first as the foundation for the moon, then I worked outward with progressively cooler blues. The bird was painted last, in one session, to keep the energy fluid.
