PICANTE
A vibrant celebration of Latin culture at La Rumba in Denver, featuring a woman with flowing blue hair adorned with roses alongside dynamic dance imagery. The colors pulse with the energy of salsa and cumbia, turning the restaurant wall into a visual dance floor.

Artist's Note
“Latin music makes colors move. When I hear salsa, I see swirling warm tones; cumbia brings out flowing blues and purples. This mural is what Latin music looks like to me — passionate, rhythmic, and impossibly alive.”
— Rachel Dinda
Inspiration
Denver's Latin community brings incredible cultural richness to the city. La Rumba is a gathering place where that culture lives and breathes every night. The mural needed to match that energy — nothing restrained, nothing held back.
The Process
The flowing hair and dance movement required loose, confident brushwork — the kind you can't fake or overthink. I played Latin music while painting (La Rumba kept their speakers on for me) and let the rhythm influence my hand. The roses were added with palette knife work for texture that catches light from the restaurant's evening ambiance.
Community Impact
The mural has become inseparable from La Rumba's identity. Dancers pose in front of it, and the restaurant features it in all their promotional materials. It captures the spirit of the place so well that first-time visitors say they knew what to expect before they even heard the music.
