Inspiration
That moment when you're high in the Rockies and the Milky Way stretches overhead — that's what this piece captures. The mountains anchor you to earth while the galaxy pulls your eyes upward.
The Process
Working above furniture required careful planning and protection of the living space. I painted the mountain range first as dark silhouettes, then built the galaxy upward with layered washes of blue, purple, and white. The stars were dotted in with fine brushes and flicked from a loaded brush for the scattered cluster effect.
Community Impact
The homeowner says every guest comments on it. It's become the centerpiece of their living room — people sit on the couch and just stare upward, which is exactly the response I was hoping for.
