A residential mural transforming an entire room into a deep-space nebula, with swirling gas clouds, star clusters, and cosmic dust creating an immersive experience. The piece turns the homeowner's space into a personal planetarium where the ceiling melts into infinite space.

“Residential murals are intimate — they become part of someone's daily life, the first and last thing they see each day. Creating a cosmos for someone's home is like building a private universe. This family wanted to feel connected to something bigger, and now they fall asleep under the stars.”

Inspiration
The homeowner was an amateur astronomer who wanted their passion to surround them. I studied actual Hubble telescope images to get the nebula structures right, then stylized them just enough to feel painterly rather than photographic.
The Process
Interior work requires different materials — low-VOC paints, careful masking of fixtures, and attention to how artificial lighting will change the colors at different times of day. I worked in layers, starting with the deepest background stars and building forward through nebula clouds to the brightest foreground elements.
Community Impact
The family uses the room as a meditation and relaxation space now. They've told me their kids bring friends over specifically to 'see the galaxy,' and it's sparked genuine interest in astronomy for the whole household.
