Inspiration
Lions represent a kind of power that doesn't need to prove itself. The homeowner's own journey through difficult times shaped the mood of this piece — it's not about aggression, it's about enduring.
The Process
Garage doors require specialized prep — they flex, they face weather directly, and the sectional panels create natural breaks in the surface. I used flexible exterior paint and planned the composition so the lion's features don't fall on panel seams. The mane was built up in flowing brushstrokes that follow the door's movement.
Community Impact
The homeowner told me they smile every time they pull into the driveway. Delivery drivers and postal workers have started leaving notes complimenting it. For a residential piece, that kind of community response is really gratifying.
